Recent Medical Findings
Much of the effectiveness of raw honey has been traced to the bee pollen and propolis suspended within it. From S. Mladenov of Bulgaria comes a report entitled "Diseases of the Air Passages Treated With Honey." According to the report, honey performed well against a variety of respiratory problems, as follows:

We found honey has bactericidal, anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory, and expectorant properties that insure the body an immunobiological defense and give it the capacity to regenerate attacked cells.
Of 17,862 patients treated with honey, 8,836 were men and 9,026 were women. Most of the patients ranged from 21 to 60 years old. After treatment, the results were:
Chronic bronchitis. Without symptoms--64.41%; improved condition--23.50%; temporary improvement--6.3%; no effect--5.69%.
Asthmatic bronchitis. Without symptoms--62%; improved condition--26.4%; temporary improvement--5.6%; no effect--6.00%.
Bronchial asthma. Without symptoms--55.44%; long-lasting improvement (fewer and lighter crises)--30.25%; temporary
improvement--5.8%; no effect--8.51%.
Chronic rhinitis. Without symptoms--82%; long-lasting improvement--14%; no effect--4%.
Allergic rhinitis. Without symptoms--62%; long-lasting improvement--22%; temporary improvement--6%; no effect--6.00%.
